artist: Bebe. song:Siempre Me Quedará
What first got my attention in this song is the manner of the lady's singing. Unlike the majority of today's so-called artist, Bebe manages to deliver in a simple singing style a electrical discharge of emotions. But there are so many songs out there that give the illusion of melodic art that I felt it necessary to "dig" deeper.
Lyrics analysis: I must confess that since I have little knowledge of the Spanish language I fell into believing that the song is dedicated to a lost love. Since I am always curious on what lies within foreign songs, I asked my dear friend Google for the translation. I was not far from the truth. It is about a loss and it does involve love, but of a maternal nature. The poor girl was beaten by her (fill in the blanks with a swear word of choice) husband while she was pregnant and subsequently lost the child. The song is probably her way of searching for inner peace. I can only imagine what she went through and how hard it must gave been to release the song to the public. I thought it just to spread her message with my full respect.
Video analysis: I could not conclude without a short look at the visual motives. The director certainly got the message of the song and set it in womb-like-background. The artist sinking repeatedly in water, her fetus positions, the burst of "liquid" in water scene as a metaphor for the miscarriage, all in perfect alignment with the lyrics are pure genius.
To conclude I give you the link to the Spanish and translated lyrics and invite you to reflect on them yourself:
Hope you have at least a tolerable day,
yours truly.
